JPA Workforce is now hiring a maintenance mechanic for an industrial laundry warehouse in San Antonio.

Description:

The Maintenance Engineer performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other functions related to laundry equipment. This position also performs all duties related to maintenance of the facility and property, including fencing, grass, parking, and areas of ingress and egress to and from the property. The Maintenance Engineer performs all tasks with the highest regard to safety.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain and repair laundry equipment.
  • Handle the regular maintenance and preventive maintenance of all the equipment as well as the lint traps, shaker screen barrels, oil levels, grease fittings, water levels, wastewater systems, and other engineering processes.
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, PC, air, and power.
  • Perform plumbing, 3-phase 230-volt electrical, carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repair.
  • Be familiar with and maintain PLCs, electronic interfaces, computers, and electronic boards on all pieces of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostics.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting.
  • Answer and resolve daily maintenance requests in a timely fashion, so that minimal down-time is experienced and operational processes are continually improved.
  • Work with all plant personnel in a cooperative and professional manner.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures required by federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA and guidelines from TJC, infection control and also recognized as common practice in the industry. Use appropriate PPE when required and also ensure where required that PPE for noise, infection control, and safety are in place and functional.
  • Ensure all building- and equipment-required inspections are completed in a timely and competent manner and maintain the appropriate logs, surveillance data, and safety information on building and operational equipment (e.g., water temperatures, boiler inspections, water/sewer compliance, hygienic compliance, replacement of filters, fittings, and other items to meet equipment and building requirements).
  • Has the appropriate equipment available for lock-out, tag-out, confined space entry, chemical spills, and all other internal/external disasters.
  • Remain current on equipment and repair procedures.
  • Properly use power and hand tools.
  • Keep accurate and timely records of maintenance performed.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
  • Coordinate the agreements for pest control, housekeeping, chemical use, waste management, etc. and advise superordinate of activities and time frames of each.
  • Have all manuals available for laundry equipment, building equipment, structural requirements, etc. and in good condition.
  • Can readily access manufacturers, builders, regulatory agencies to handle maintenance requirements beyond those able to be handled locally.

Education: No formal education required.

Experience: 12 months

Minimum of two years of maintenance engineering experience with specific knowledge of machinery, electricity, electronics, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, welder, and boiler applications., Proficiency in the proper use of power and hand tools., Strong electrical troubleshooting ability of 3-phase 230-volt, systems., PLC programming experience., Excellent attendance record., Able to support a 24/7 operation., Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, ability to comprehend and follow directions and to perform basic math calculations., Good time management skills and a team player.

  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evening hours as needed per assigned area.
  • Capable of lifting three-quarters-full clean and soiled linen bags frequently (20-30 lbs.).
  • Capable of pushing and pulling a linen cart or various equipment (over 100 lbs.) continuously throughout a shift.
